Disclosure, up front. GACS AI publishes this page and is one of the seven products on it. We do not rank ourselves first, and on most of the buyer types below we are not the right answer. Weight everything here accordingly, and check every price against the vendor's own page before you sign anything.
Almost every "best AI customer service agent" list is published by a vendor that ranks itself at number one. If you have read four of these lists and found four different winners, that is why.
Pricing verified September 2026.
Of the vendors that price AI separately from seats, almost none publish a firm rate you can plan against.
That last point is the one most lists get wrong.
If you run a Shopify DTC store and your top ticket volume is "where is my order", "cancel this", "change my address", Gorgias is the honest answer and it is not close. It executes those actions inside the ticket. Refund, cancel, edit address, re-ship, apply a discount, across Shopify, Recharge and Loop. It also attributes revenue to support conversations.
Pricing is per ticket volume, never per seat. Starter $10 for 50 tickets a month, Basic $60 for 300, Pro $360 for 2,000, Advanced $900 for 5,000. AI is charged per resolved conversation at $0.50 to $1, per Gorgias's own comparison page. An AI-resolved ticket consumes both a plan ticket and a resolution fee, so you pay twice for the same conversation. At 1,000 conversations a month you are on Pro at $360 without AI, and around $630 with AI handling 30%. Annual prices and overage rates are not published.
Best for Shopify DTC doing roughly 300 to 5,000 tickets a month. GACS AI can look up order status in Shopify but cannot execute order actions, so here we are not a substitute.
If your product is software, your support happens in-product, and your team is measured on deflection rate, Intercom is built for you.
Fin is among the strongest resolution engines on the market. Intercom is also the only major vendor that sells its AI decoupled from its own helpdesk, so Fin can run on top of Zendesk or Salesforce without you replacing anything. Nobody else in this set offers that. The messenger, product tours and outbound messaging are best in class.
Seats are $29 per month on Essential, $85 on Advanced (20 free Lite seats), $132 on Expert (50 free Lite seats). Add-ons stack: Pro from $99 a month, Copilot $29 per agent per month, Proactive Support Plus $99 a month. Fin is from $0.99 per outcome, with a 50 outcomes per month minimum on the standalone option, and Fin's own site states that "You're only charged for one outcome per conversation, even if Fin takes multiple actions." No volume discounts are published. Annual per-seat rates and the helpdesk trial length are not published, though fin.ai states a 14-day trial with unlimited Fin outcomes.
At 5 agents and 1,000 conversations: $145 a month on Essential with Fin off, $442 at 30% deflection, $640 at 50%. Best for product-led SaaS, roughly 5 to 100 agents. The cost rises with success, so forecast your volume before signing.
If you have between 2 and 25 agents, you work mostly over email, and your brand promise is that a real person replies well, Help Scout is the right foundation and an AI-first tool is the wrong one. The shared inbox has no ticket-number noise, collision detection stops two agents replying at once, and Docs is a knowledge base that is genuinely pleasant to write in. Setup takes an afternoon, faster than anything else here.
Free tier at $0 for 5 users, 1 Inbox, 1 Docs site and 100 contacts a month. Standard $25 per user per month, Plus $45, Pro $75. Contacts are unlimited from Standard up. A 16% annual discount is advertised but explicit annual dollar figures are not published. Trial is 15 days with no credit card.
The AI split is the fairest in this set. AI Assist and AI Drafts, which help your agents write, are included and unlimited from Standard up. Only AI Answers, the customer-facing agent, is metered, at $0.75 per resolution, with three free months for new accounts.
At 5 agents and 1,000 conversations: $125 a month with AI Answers off, $350 at 30%, $500 at 50%. The Free plan's 100-contact cap means it cannot carry 1,000 conversations.
The known limit is seat cost as you grow. Eklavya Y. on G2: "it become expensive as team grow". Jonathan K.: "It's a little on the expensive side for us but the value is there." One reviewer notes the messenger "is only available for their Pro and Plus plans." Full detail on our Help Scout alternative page.
If cost is the constraint and you need real breadth, Freshdesk at $19 per agent per month billed annually is the cheapest serious entry here. That buys full ticketing, SLAs, automation, a knowledge base, and 500 Freddy AI Agent sessions a month included at every tier. Pro is $55 and Enterprise is $89, all billed annually. Monthly-billing rates are not published. If you need IT service management and customer support on one contract, Freshservice and Freshdesk under one Freshworks agreement is a real advantage that nothing smaller matches.
At 5 agents and 1,000 conversations: $95 a month on Growth with AI off, the cheapest entry on this page. With AI on all 1,000, it is $340, being the 500 included sessions plus 500 extra at $49 per 100.
The caveat is the one from the top of this page. That $0.49 is per session and Freshworks does not define a session. Freddy AI Copilot is also separate at $29 per agent per month, more than the seat itself, and MCP actions are $15 per 1,000. G2 reviewer summaries note that "Users find Freshdesk to be expensive, as essential features come with extra costs, leading to frustration" and that "Freshworks should make the commercial terms as clear as the product pricing." Unexpected price increases and removal of discounts at renewal are recurring review themes.
Best for cost-conscious teams of roughly 5 to 50 agents who get the session definition in writing first.
If you run 25 agents or more, multiple brands, complex routing, or you operate under regulatory obligations, Zendesk is what the category built for you. Operational depth is the point. Routing, SLAs, multi-brand support, workforce management, Explore reporting, enterprise governance and the largest app marketplace here.
Support Team is $19 per agent per month paid yearly and is ticketing only. Suite Team is $55 and Suite Professional $115, both per agent per month paid yearly. The Copilot add-on is $50 per agent per month. At 5 seats on Suite Team that is $275 a month plus AI charges.
Which brings the problem. Zendesk bills AI per automated resolution and the per-resolution rate is not published anywhere. Neither is the included allowance. You cannot forecast a Zendesk AI bill from public information. Ask for it in writing before you commit.
If you are a small site, you want live chat on the page today, and your budget is near zero, Tidio is the usual starting point. It is strong on front-of-funnel conversation, the kind that turns a browsing visitor into a question and a question into a sale, and it goes live without help.
We did not verify Tidio's pricing in our September 2026 check, so we are not quoting any Tidio numbers here. Check tidio.com directly. We would rather leave a gap than fill it with a figure we have not confirmed. Our Tidio alternative page goes deeper.
GACS AI answers on a website widget, on WhatsApp using your own business number, over email and on inbound and outbound phone calls, from your own documents and product data, and hands off to a human with the full transcript when it should not answer. It is built by Diggit Software Solutions, with teams in Dallas, Dubai, London and Karachi. It fits a narrow band, and it is a real band.
If you are a Shopify store that needs order actions, go to Gorgias. If you are chasing maximum deflection on a SaaS product, go to Intercom.
Pricing verified September 2026. Check the vendor's own page before deciding.

Demos are designed to succeed. Here is a method that is harder to game.
Per-resolution rates are mostly missing. Zendesk publishes none. Gorgias publishes a range, and not on the pricing page. Freshdesk publishes a rate for a unit it does not define. Only Intercom and Help Scout give a firm number on a pricing page, and Intercom's has "from" in front of it.
Annual pricing is patchy. Help Scout advertises a 16% annual discount without publishing dollar figures. Freshdesk publishes annual rates but not monthly ones. Gorgias publishes neither annual prices nor overage rates.
Published benchmark data is rare across the category, and where numbers exist they are measured on the vendor's own customer base, not yours. GACS AI has published no benchmarks and no public case studies at all, which we state plainly rather than fill with a number we cannot support.
Treat any deflection percentage you read anywhere, including from us, as a claim rather than a measurement until you have run it on your own tickets.
Whichever of these seven you are leaning toward, run the hundred-ticket test first. If you want us in that test, bring the tickets.
