Help Scout Alternative

GACS AI as a Help Scout alternative

GACS AI is an AI customer service agent that answers on your website widget, WhatsApp, email and phone calls from your own documents and product data, and hands off to a human when it should not answer. It is priced on conversation volume and connected channels rather than per user seat. Help Scout is priced per user seat with a customer-facing AI add-on at $0.75 per resolution, which is the lowest published per-resolution rate of any vendor in this comparison set.

Fair Is Fair

Say the good part first

Help Scout has the best published AI rate in this category. AI Answers costs $0.75 per resolution, against Intercom's "from $0.99 per outcome" and a Zendesk rate that is not published at all. New accounts also get three months of unlimited AI Answers resolutions free. If per-resolution cost is your deciding factor, Help Scout wins on the public numbers and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

Help Scout also splits its AI sensibly. AI Assist and AI Drafts, which help your agents write, are included and unlimited from Standard up. Only AI Answers, the customer-facing agent, is metered. Plenty of vendors charge for agent-assist separately.

The Bill

Why people look for a Help Scout alternative

The complaint is not about quality. It is about what happens as the team grows.

Two G2 reviewers put it directly. Eklavya Y. writes that "it become expensive as team grow". Jonathan K. writes "It's a little on the expensive side for us but the value is there." Source: g2.com/products/help-scout/reviews

That is a seat-count problem. At $25 per user per month on Standard, five people is $125 and twenty people is $500 before any AI resolution is billed. The per-seat model is what scales against you, not the product.

Two other friction points are worth naming. The messenger is only available on the Plus and Pro plans, per one reviewer, so the cheapest paid tier does not include it. And the Free plan caps at 100 contacts a month, so it cannot carry 1,000 conversations no matter how the rest of the math works.

Help Scout also does not publish explicit annual dollar figures. A 16% annual discount is advertised, but you do the arithmetic yourself.

Reasons Not To Switch

Who should stay on Help Scout

What Actually Changes

Where GACS AI is different

Channels are the main difference. Help Scout is email-first with a messenger on the higher tiers. GACS AI answers on a website widget, on WhatsApp using your own business number, over email and on inbound and outbound phone calls. All four run from one knowledge base, so a correction made once applies everywhere. If your customers reach you by WhatsApp or by phone as much as by email, that is a different product category rather than a feature comparison.

The billing unit is the second difference. GACS AI prices on conversation volume and connected channels, not seats. Adding a team member does not add a line to the invoice. That directly addresses the "expensive as team grow" complaint, though whether it is cheaper for you depends on your conversation volume.

Language handling is the third. GACS AI supports 50+ languages and handles Arabic and English inside a single message, which is ordinary behavior across the Gulf and rare in tools built for a single-language market. More on the Arabic and English chatbot page.

Knowledge sources connect to what your team already maintains. Import your site by URL, upload PDFs, write entries by hand, or connect Google Drive and Notion, which stay in sync as documents change. Catalog items can appear as cards inside the chat.

Stated Plainly

What GACS AI does not have

GACS AI has published no benchmark data. There are no public case studies, no customer logos and no testimonials. We will not quote a resolution rate or an accuracy figure, because we have not published one.

Shopify order tracking is live: customers can ask where their order is and get the answer from Shopify. Full catalog sync and live stock answers are still in build, along with Calendly, WhatsApp bulk campaigns and streaming voice. BigCommerce and Magento are not supported natively.

The agent does not execute refunds, returns or order edits. It answers, captures the lead and hands off.

There is no free tier, no free trial and no self-service signup. Plans start at $149 a month with a $299 one-time setup, and you talk to a person first. If that is a dealbreaker, Help Scout is available right now and we would rather you knew that here than found out after filling in a form.

Switching Over

How migration works

Start with your Docs content. GACS AI imports from a website URL, and a public Help Scout Docs site can be pulled in directly. Add PDFs, manual entries, and a Google Drive folder or Notion workspace that stays in sync.

Add the website widget with one snippet. Run it beside Help Scout on part of your traffic rather than switching over. Connect your support mailbox so email is answered from the same knowledge base your widget uses, and connect WhatsApp to your own number from the dashboard if that channel matters to you.

Set handoff rules. Decide which topics never get an automated answer and who receives them. For a team that chose Help Scout because a person replies, this list should be longer than the default.

Keep Help Scout until the parallel run gives you a clear answer. If the honest conclusion is that your email volume belongs in Help Scout and only your WhatsApp and phone volume belongs with us, that is a reasonable outcome and we will say so.

FAQ

Questions people ask

It depends on your team size and your conversation volume, and we cannot answer it without both. Help Scout is $25 per user per month on Standard, so five people is $125 before AI, and AI Answers adds $0.75 per resolution. Plans start at $149 a month for 500 chats (Starter), then $399 for 1,500 chats and 200 call minutes (Growth) and $899 for 4,000 chats and 600 call minutes (Scale), each with a $299 one-time setup. Extra chats are $0.25 and extra call minutes $0.40. Because we price on conversations rather than seats, GACS AI tends to compare better as headcount grows relative to volume, and worse when a small team handles high volume.

GACS AI imports from a website URL, so a public Docs site can be imported directly. PDFs, manual entries, Google Drive and Notion also work as sources, and Drive and Notion stay synced after import so your team keeps editing where it already edits.

No. Help Scout's inbox is the best in this comparison set, and we are not going to claim otherwise. GACS AI gives your agents a live handoff inbox with full transcripts and AI reply suggestions, which is a different thing built for a different job.

Our AI is included in conversation-based pricing rather than metered per resolution, so the two are not directly comparable per unit. Our plans include a monthly chat allowance, from 500 chats on Starter at $149 a month to 4,000 on Scale at $899, and extra chats are $0.25 each. What we can say is that $0.75 is the lowest published per-resolution rate of any vendor we compare, and that is a real advantage for Help Scout.

We do not publish one and we will not estimate one. Test the agent against your own last 100 real conversations in a demo and measure it yourself.

See for yourself

The fair test is your own conversations, not a demo script. Bring your last 100 and we will show you what the agent does with them.
