Freshdesk Alternative

GACS AI as a Freshdesk alternative

GACS AI is an AI customer service agent that answers on your website widget, WhatsApp, email and phone calls from your own documents and product data, and hands off to a human when it should not answer. It is priced on conversation volume and connected channels rather than per agent seat. Freshdesk is priced per agent seat and includes 500 Freddy AI sessions a month, with extra sessions at $49 per 100. Whether that is cheap depends entirely on what a session is, and Freshworks does not say.

The session question, which matters more than the price

Freshdesk's AI rate looks like the cheapest in the category. Extra Freddy AI Agent sessions cost $49 per 100, which is $0.49 each. Intercom charges from $0.99 per outcome. Help Scout charges $0.75 per resolution. On the face of it Freshdesk undercuts both by half.

It is not the same unit. Intercom and Help Scout bill per resolution, meaning you pay when the issue is handled. Freshdesk bills per session, and Freshworks does not define a session anywhere on its pricing page. A session may be charged whether or not the customer's issue was resolved. If one customer problem takes three sessions to work through and is then escalated to a human anyway, you have paid $1.47 and resolved nothing.

That does not make Freshdesk expensive. It makes the comparison unavailable. You cannot put $0.49 and $0.75 in the same column and draw a conclusion, and any page that does is misleading you. Before signing, ask Freshworks in writing what starts a session, what ends one, and whether an unresolved conversation is billable.

The Bill

Why people look for a Freshdesk alternative

The complaints are consistent and they are commercial rather than technical.

A G2 reviewer summary reads: "Users find Freshdesk to be expensive, as essential features come with extra costs, leading to frustration." Another review, on commercial terms specifically: "Freshworks should make the commercial terms as clear as the product pricing." Source: g2.com/products/freshdesk/reviews

The recurring themes in reviews are unexpected price increases and the removal of existing discounts at renewal. That is a renewal-cycle problem more than a first-year problem, which is why it tends to show up in reviews from long-term customers rather than new ones.

The other cost pattern is stacking. Growth is $19 per agent per month, which is genuinely low. Then Freddy AI Copilot is another $29 per agent per month, which is more than the seat itself. MCP actions are $15 per 1,000. Extra AI sessions are $49 per 100. The entry price is not the price.

Reasons Not To Switch

Who should stay on Freshdesk

For a cost-conscious team of roughly 5 to 50 agents, Freshdesk is a reasonable default. The question to settle before renewal is the session definition and what happens to your discount in year two.

What Actually Changes

Where GACS AI is different

The billing unit is the first difference. GACS AI prices on conversation volume and connected channels, not seats and not undefined AI sessions. You know before you start what a billable event is.

The channel mix is the second. Inbound and outbound voice calls are part of the product. WhatsApp runs on your own business number through Meta's official Cloud API signup flow, set up from the dashboard without a developer. Website, WhatsApp, email and phone all answer from one knowledge base, so a correction made once applies across all four.

Language handling is the third. GACS AI supports 50+ languages and handles Arabic and English mixed inside a single message, which is ordinary customer behavior across the Gulf. More on the Arabic and English chatbot page.

Knowledge sources connect to what your team already maintains. Import your site by URL, upload PDFs, write entries by hand, or connect Google Drive and Notion, which stay in sync as documents change. Your team edits the document it already edits, and the answers move with it.

Stated Plainly

What GACS AI does not have

GACS AI has published no benchmark data. There are no public case studies, no customer logos and no testimonials. We will not quote a resolution rate or an accuracy figure, because we have not published one.

Shopify order tracking is live: customers can ask where their order is and get the answer from Shopify. Full catalog sync and live stock answers are still in build, along with Calendly, WhatsApp bulk campaigns and streaming voice. BigCommerce and Magento are not supported natively.

The agent does not execute refunds, returns or order edits. It answers, captures the lead and hands off.

GACS AI is not a ticketing platform and does not try to be one. There is no self-service signup either. You talk to a person first.

Switching Over

How migration works

Start with knowledge sources rather than ticket history. Point GACS AI at your site URL, your Freshdesk knowledge base pages, your PDFs and the Drive or Notion folder your team keeps current. That is usually done the same day as your setup call.

Add the website widget with one snippet and run it beside Freshdesk on part of your traffic. A live parallel run tells you more than any demo.

Connect WhatsApp to your own number from the dashboard. Meta's official signup flow handles approval.

Set handoff rules. Decide which topics never get an automated answer and who receives them.

Then decide what Freshdesk is still for. Many teams keep Freshdesk for ticketing and internal workflow and move conversational volume to GACS AI. That is a legitimate end state.

FAQ

Questions people ask

On seat price, almost certainly yes. Freshdesk starts at $19 per agent per month billed annually, and five agents with AI off is $95 a month. Plans start at $149 a month for 500 chats (Starter), then $399 for 1,500 chats and 200 call minutes (Growth) and $899 for 4,000 chats and 600 call minutes (Scale), each with a $299 one-time setup. Extra chats are $0.25 and extra call minutes $0.40. Because we price on conversation volume rather than seats, the two models cross over at some point that depends on your ratio of agents to conversations. Do that arithmetic before you decide.

Freshworks does not define it on its pricing page and we will not guess. Ask them in writing what starts a session, what ends one, and whether an unresolved conversation is billable. The answer changes the real cost of the $0.49 rate.

GACS AI imports from a website URL, so a public Freshdesk knowledge base can be pulled in directly. PDFs, manual entries, Google Drive and Notion also work, and Drive and Notion stay synced after import.

Not if you rely on Freshdesk ticketing, SLAs and dispatch automation. GACS AI handles the conversation and the handoff, not the full service desk workflow.

We do not publish one and we will not estimate one. Test the agent against your own last 100 real tickets in a demo and measure it yourself.

See for yourself

The fair test is your own tickets, not a demo script. Bring your last 100 real conversations and we will show you what the agent does with them.
