WhatsApp

A WhatsApp AI chatbot on your own number, without a developer

GACS AI connects a WhatsApp AI chatbot to the number your customers already message. You start the connection from the GACS dashboard, sign in with your Meta account through the official WhatsApp Cloud API signup flow, verify your number, and the agent starts answering. No developer, no webhook code to write, no ticket sitting in a queue waiting for someone at a reseller to approve you by hand.

That first sentence is the whole pitch. Most tools in this category make WhatsApp setup into a project. The number gets rented from the vendor, or the API access gets brokered by a third party, or you need an engineer for an afternoon. None of that is required here.

Once connected, the same agent that answers on your website chat widget answers on WhatsApp, using the same knowledge base, the same handoff rules and the same transcript history.

Setup

Setup in four steps

01

Open the WhatsApp channel in your dashboard

Channels live in one place in GACS AI. You pick WhatsApp and start the connection. Nothing is installed on your servers.

02

Sign in with Meta

The connection runs through Meta's official embedded signup flow for the WhatsApp Cloud API. You log in with the Facebook account that owns, or will own, your WhatsApp Business Account. Meta handles the permissions screen. GACS AI receives only the access it needs to send and receive messages on the number you choose.

03

Verify your business number

You select the phone number you want the agent to answer on and verify it with a code. If the number is currently in use on the consumer WhatsApp app or the WhatsApp Business app, it has to be migrated first, because a number can live in one place at a time. Meta walks you through that inside the same flow.

04

Point the agent at your knowledge

Import your website by URL, upload PDFs, add manual entries, or connect a Google Drive folder or a Notion workspace that stays in sync as your team edits it. Set the rules for when the agent should stop and hand the conversation to a person. Send yourself a test message.

Most of the elapsed time here is the Meta login and the number verification. The parts GACS AI controls do not need a developer at any point.

Ownership

What "your own number" actually means

Some WhatsApp tools give you a number they own. You rent it for the length of the contract. It works, and it is faster to demo, but it has consequences that only show up later.

A rented or shared number is not portable. If you leave the vendor, the number goes with them, along with the WhatsApp presence your customers have saved in their contacts. Your printed material, your Google Business Profile and your email signature all point at a number you do not control. Message history sits inside the vendor's WhatsApp Business Account rather than yours.

Your own number behaves the opposite way. The WhatsApp Business Account is registered to your business in Meta Business Manager. The display name, the business profile, the green tick verification if you apply for it and the quality rating all belong to you. GACS AI connects to it as an application. If you ever disconnect GACS AI, the number, the account and the business verification stay where they are.

This matters most for businesses that have been publishing the same WhatsApp number for years. You do not want a software decision to cost you that.

Terminology

The WhatsApp Business API, explained plainly

The terminology in this space is confusing on purpose, so here is the plain version.

Being clear about this up front is worth more than a tidier pricing page. Anyone who has been surprised by a Meta conversation bill knows why.

Auto Reply

How to set up an auto reply on WhatsApp, and where it runs out

WhatsApp has two auto reply features of its own, and they are free. If that is all you need, use them. Here is what each one does.

That is the whole native set. Two blocks of fixed text and a shortcut list. They acknowledge a message. They do not answer one. A shopper who asks about your returns policy gets told your hours, which is better than silence and worse than an answer.

Two limits are worth knowing before you plan around them.

The greeting and away messages live in the WhatsApp Business app, on a phone. Once a number moves to the Cloud API, it leaves that app, and the app's auto replies go with it. Whatever answers for you after that comes from the software connected to the API. The Cloud API does have its own ways to send a scheduled or templated reply, but that is configuration in a tool, not a toggle in an app.

The text is fixed. One greeting, one away message, no reference to what the customer actually asked.

An AI agent on the same number goes further in a specific way. It reads the question, answers it from your imported website content, your PDFs, your manual entries and your synced Drive and Notion material, and then captures the name, email and intent in the thread. When it should not answer, it hands the conversation to a person with the full transcript. That is the difference between WhatsApp automation that tells people you are closed and automation that answers them at 11pm.

A practical middle path exists. Keep the native away message running while you set GACS AI up, and once the number is connected and tested, the agent covers the hours the away message used to.

In Context

Where GACS AI fits next to Wati, Respond.io, Twilio, 360dialog, ManyChat and AiSensy

These are the names you will meet while comparing options. They are not all the same kind of product.

Twilio and 360dialog are primarily infrastructure. They give you API access to WhatsApp and expect you to build the conversational layer yourself, or to bring another tool for it. Wati, Respond.io, ManyChat and AiSensy sit closer to GACS AI, offering a shared team inbox, broadcast campaigns and rule based or AI assisted replies on top of WhatsApp.

The practical difference is scope. Those products are built around WhatsApp as the center of the world. GACS AI is built around one agent that answers wherever the customer arrives, and WhatsApp is one of four channels it covers, alongside the website widget, email and inbound and outbound phone calls. A customer who asks on WhatsApp and then emails two days later is talking to something that already knows the context.

None of the companies named above are partners, resellers or customers of GACS AI. They are named here because you are probably comparing them.

Native AI vs A Connected Agent

WhatsApp now has its own AI, so when does a connected agent win

Meta has been adding AI features directly inside WhatsApp Business. For a small business answering a modest number of straightforward messages, that native option is real and it costs nothing extra to try. Pretending otherwise would be silly.

A connected agent on your own number is the better choice when the following are true.

If none of those apply to you, use the native option. If two or more do, this is the conversation worth having.

Sample Conversations

What the agent answers on WhatsApp

The exchanges below are illustrative. They show the shape of a conversation rather than a recorded customer session.

Answering from your own material

hi do you deliver to Sharjah and how long does it take
Yes, we deliver across all seven emirates. Orders to Sharjah placed before the daily cutoff usually arrive the next working day. Delivery is free above the order threshold on our shipping page. Want me to check a specific order?

Showing a catalog card

Products, properties and courses can be pulled from a connected catalog and shown as cards inside the chat, so the customer sees the item rather than a description of it.

Want me to take your preferred viewing times and pass them to an agent?

Capturing the lead, then stepping aside

I want to talk to someone about a bulk order
Happy to get that to the right person. Can I take your name and the best email for you?
Rania, rania@example.com
Thanks Rania. I have logged this as a bulk order enquiry and passed it to the team with everything we have discussed. They will reply on this thread.

The person who picks that up sees the whole conversation, and gets AI reply suggestions while they type.

Arabic and English in the same thread

WhatsApp is where language mixing happens most. A customer opens in English, switches to Arabic mid-sentence, then sends a voice note. GACS AI works across 50+ languages and is built to handle Arabic and English inside a single conversation rather than forcing a language choice at the start.

This deserves more detail than a paragraph. The Arabic and English chatbot page covers dialect handling, Arabizi, code-switching, right-to-left rendering and data residency, with an honest capability table.

In Build

WhatsApp Campaigns, honestly

Outbound broadcast campaigns on WhatsApp are in build and are not available today. Anything you read on this page about the agent answering, capturing leads and handing off applies to conversations customers start, plus replies inside an open conversation window.

A few other things are in build rather than live, and it is better you hear it here than in a demo. Shopify catalog sync and WhatsApp order updates, Calendly booking and streaming voice output are being worked on. Shopify order tracking is already live. Native BigCommerce and Magento are not available. The agent does not execute refunds, returns or order edits, and it will not quote live stock levels.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

No. The connection runs through Meta's official Cloud API embedded signup inside the GACS dashboard. You sign in with Meta, choose your number and verify it. There is no code to write and no manual reseller approval to wait on.

Yes, as long as you can verify it and it is not actively registered on the consumer WhatsApp app or the WhatsApp Business app. A number lives in one place at a time, so an existing number gets migrated to the Cloud API during setup. The number stays yours throughout.

You do, directly, through your own WhatsApp Business Account. Meta sets those rates by conversation category and by the country of the person messaging, and it changes them from time to time. GACS AI does not set or resell them. Your GACS AI plan is billed separately, based on conversation volume and connected channels rather than per agent seat. See pricing.

It hands the conversation to a person and attaches the full transcript. You decide the conditions: certain topics, certain phrases, an explicit request for a human, or low confidence. The customer stays in the same WhatsApp thread the whole time.

For low message volume, yes. The WhatsApp Business app gives you a greeting message and an away message, both free, both one block of fixed text. They tell a customer you have seen the message. They cannot answer the question. Note that those two features live in the Business app, so a number moved to the Cloud API no longer uses them and the connected software answers instead.

Not today. WhatsApp Campaigns are in build. GACS AI currently handles conversations customers start and replies inside an open conversation window.

Start with a demo

There is no self-service signup. You see the WhatsApp connection running against your own knowledge base, with your handoff rules, before you decide anything. Plans start at $149 a month for 500 chats, with a one-time $299 setup.

If you want the full feature list first, see features. If you sell online, the ecommerce page covers what the agent answers about products, shipping and returns.
